Mario Kart World – game Nintendo Switch 2

Open-World Design:
Unlike previous Mario Kart games with isolated tracks, Mario Kart World features a seamless, sprawling world where courses are interconnected. Players race from one course to the next through integrated paths, traversing diverse environments like grassy plains, bustling cities (Crown City), wide-open waters, volcanos, and more. This “continent-spanning” rally means the journey between courses is often part of the race itself.
Massive Races:
The competition has intensified with support for up to 24 players in online races, double the number of previous Mario Kart titles. This creates more chaotic and exhilarating races.
New Gameplay Mechanics:
Off-Roading and Environmental Interaction: Players can go beyond the designated “road” and race across various terrains, utilizing new techniques like wall riding, rail grinding, and even skimming across water (with compatible vehicles). These mechanics offer new strategic shortcuts and higher skill ceilings.
Physics-Powered Overhaul:
A new physics engine provides a more realistic feel to karts, with varied outcomes for collisions and tricks, adding a layer of unpredictability and technical skill.
Ground Tricks:
A new mechanic allows players to perform “tricks” on the ground without drifting, potentially offering small boosts or helping to clear obstacles.
Expanded Roster and Customization:
The game features a massive roster of 50 playable characters, many with unlockable alternate costumes. Players can also customize their karts and character outfits.
Diverse Game Modes:
Grand Prix:The classic mode returns, but with a twist. Compete across four connected courses within the open world, with the paths between courses being part of the race.
Knockout Tour:
A brand-new elimination mode where 24 racers compete in a much longer race with intermittent checkpoints. If you don’t place high enough by the time you reach a checkpoint, you’re eliminated. This adds a survival element to racing.
Free Roam:
Explore the vast open world at your leisure. Drive anywhere, discover scenic spots, find collectibles (like Peach Medallions and Question Mark Panels), and complete hundreds of single-player missions activated by hitting “P-Switches.” This mode can be enjoyed solo or with friends.
Battle Mode:
Returns with fan-favorite sub-modes like Balloon Battle and Coin Runners.
VS Race:
Allows for traditional 3-lap races on individual tracks with customizable rules and up to 24 human/CPU racers.
Time Trials:
Set personal bests and race against ghost data of players worldwide.
Dynamic Environments and Visuals:
The world features dynamic lighting, shifting weather patterns, and a day/night cycle, making courses feel fresh with each race. The game leverages the Switch 2’s hardware for enhanced visuals and performance, with Digital Foundry noting a “generational leap forward.”
Social Integration:
GameChat:Utilize the new integrated GameChat system to voice chat with friends and even share your screen during races or Free Roam exploration. With a compatible USB-C camera (like the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera), you can even engage in video chat to see your friends’ reactions.
Photo Mode:
A new feature allowing players to take in-game screenshots and add stamps and effects, then share them via the Nintendo Switch App.
Backward Compatibility with Joy-Con:
While designed for the new Joy-Con 2 controllers (which offer magnetic attachment and can be used as a mouse in compatible games), Mario Kart World can also be played with original Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers wirelessly. The Joy-Con 2 Wheel accessories (sold separately) provide an even more immersive driving experience.
